Jibe! Rules - Print & Play Edition

Players: 3-9
Objective: Match your word associations with the turn holder’s responses to earn points.

Materials Needed

• Printable Files: Download and print Terms Cards, Score Sheet, Responses Sheets, and Instruction Sheet.
• Pens and Printed Paper: Each player needs their own for writing responses.You can use the printable response sheets.
• Score Sheet (Printable): To keep track of points.
• Timer: e.g.Smart Phone, Egg Timer

Game Setup

1. Print and cut out all the Terms Cards of your chosen theme e.g. Food
   1. Add them to a bowl and mix them round.
2. Print out the instructions, score sheet, and print out a response sheet for each player.
3. Designate a Scorekeeper to tally points.

How to Play

1. Choose the First Turn Holder: The oldest player begins as the Turn Holder.
2. Draw a Term Card: The Turn Holder draws one Term Card and reads it aloud to all players.
3. Activate Timer: Once the timer has been activated, players can start writing their responses. Pens down when the timer goes off.
4. Write Three Responses:
   • All players, including the Turn Holder, write down three responses that they associate with the term.
   • Players try to guess what responses the Turn Holder might write.
5. Reveal Responses:
   • The Turn Holder reads their three responses aloud, one at a time.
   • Each player checks if they have any matching (or “jibing”) responses with the Turn Holder.
6. Scoring:
   • For each match (aka. Jibe!), both the player and the Turn Holder earn 2 points.
   • For the turnholder the points are cumulative, if they match on a term with three people they will get six points for that term, while the players score two each for jibing.
7. Passing the Turn: The player to the left becomes the new Turn Holder, and the next round begins with a new Term Card.

Winning the Game

The game continues for an agreed number of rounds (at least one full turn around the table). The player with the highest score at the end wins!
